"Ife" means love in Aramaic.
These earrings are made by a cooperative of talented artisans outside Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The women in this artisan group are HIV-positive and have been ostracized from society. The cooperative partners with farmers and local landowners who collect empty bullet casings. The shells are brought to the co-op, separated, sanitized, and then melted and crafted into different types of beads for creating a stunning collection of unique jewelry. These earrings are made with mixed metals of nickel and brass.
